A Lenten Message to La Salle College Community
Embracing Renewal: A Lenten Message to the La Salle College Community
As we enter the sacred season of Lent, we are invited to step away from the noise of everyday life and draw closer to what truly matters — our relationship with God, with one another, and with ourselves.
Lent is not simply about giving up something we enjoy. It is a call to transformation, a time of honest reflection, intentional sacrifice, and compassionate action. In the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle, we are reminded that true education reaches deeper than textbooks — it shapes our hearts and character.
1. Reflect with Purpose
Lent invites each member of the La Salle College community — students, parents, teachers, and staff — to pause and reflect on our lives:
What attitudes need changing?
What divisions need healing?
Where is God calling me to be more present with others?
Reflection is not passive. It challenges us to confront uncomfortable truths about ourselves and to choose courage over complacency.
2. Sacrifice with Generosity
Fasting during Lent teaches us self-discipline. But its deeper message is about detachment from self-centeredness and attachment to love. What we give up matters less than what we give to others.
As a community, let us use this season to act generously:
Offer kindness to a classmate who feels alone.
Seek forgiveness where relationships are strained.
Share our time and resources with those in need.
3. Serve with Compassion
Lasallian education emphasizes service to others — especially the marginalized and vulnerable. During Lent, our service becomes an expression of faith in action.
Let us ask ourselves:
How can I serve more faithfully?
Who in our school or local community needs my attention, empathy, and support?
True service transforms both the giver and the receiver.
4. Renew with Hope
Lent leads us toward Easter — the ultimate symbol of hope and new life. Nothing is beyond God’s mercy and healing. In a world often marked by fear and division, Lent reminds us that hope is grounded in love and resurrection.
As we walk this Lenten journey together, may La Salle College be a place where:
hearts are softened,
compassion is practiced, and
faith is renewed.
Let this season deepen our commitment to learning, to serving, and — above all — to loving one another as Christ loves us.
May God bless you and your families this Lenten season.
